DEHN Challenge (Data & AI Focused)

The Dehn challenge is a tech challenge that focuses on on real-world problems in the electrical engineering and safety sector. You’ll have the opportunity to use data and AI to develop smart, future-oriented solutions that improve product usability or internal development processes. Preparation material will be launched 2 weeks before for approved applicants.

Neumarkt Challenge "Smart Move"

On the other hand, the Neumarkt City Challenge tackles challenges in public mobility and urban living. You’ll have to Combine creativity, data, and technology to improve everyday transportation in a growing city region, making it more sustainable, efficient, and accessible.Preparation material will be launched 2 weeks before for approved applicants.

for a weekend full of connections, ideas, building and fun.

  • 12:30 PM – Welcome and Introduction:
    • Welcome of participants and introduction to the program
    • Overview of the challenges and goals of the hackathon
  • 1:00 PM – Team Member Introductions:
    • Time for participants to meet each other and form teams if not already done
  • 1:45 PM – Team Registration:
    • All teams must officially register and confirm their participation by 1:45 PM
  • 2:00 PM – Start of Hacking:
    • Teams begin working on their projects
    • Access to workspaces, Wi-Fi, and refreshments will be provided
    • Teams work on their solutions and develop prototypes
  • 7:00 PM – Pizzatime

Saturday, January 11, 2025 – Day 2

  • Full-day project work:
    • Teams continue working on their solutions throughout the day, developing code and preparing for their pitch.
  • 9:00 AM – Breakfast
  • 1:00 PM – Lunch
  • 2:00 - 3:00 PM Feedbacksessions with Companies
  • 6:00 PM – Pre-Pitch for Business Founders:
    • Opportunity for business founders to briefly present their ideas (approx. 5-minute presentation per team)
    • These presentations serve as the first feedback round and preparation for the final pitch.
  • 7:00 PM – Dinner

Sunday, January 12, 2025 – Day 3

  • 1:00 PM – Code Submission Deadline:
    • All teams must upload their code to GitHub by 1:00 PM and provide the link.
  • 2:45 PM – Announcement of the Final 6 Teams:
    • Announcement of the 6 finalist teams and the order of their pitches.
    • All teams will learn which 6 teams have made it to the final pitch and in which order they will present.
  • 3:00 PM – Start of Final Pitching:
    • Each team has 6 minutes for the pitch and 4 minutes for questions.
    • The 6 teams will present their solutions (including a demo, if possible).
  • 4:15 PM – Jury Discussion:
    • The jury has 20 minutes to select and discuss the winning teams.
  • 4:35 PM – Announcement of Winners and Award Ceremony:
    • Three prizes will be awarded:
      • 2 winning teams will each receive a cash prize of €300 (for the two challenges).
      • The Best Talent Team (not nominated for the final pitch) will receive a cash prize of €100 and an invitation to a Dreamdriven Talent Program.
    • Announcement of the results and closing of the hackathon.
      5:00 PM – Open Gathering with Drinks at the Coworking Space

  • Yes, you can stay overnight.  We offer field beds on the campus for extra accommodation if needed. If you plan to use the field beds, please bring your sleeping bag.

Your code must be uploaded to GitHub by 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2025, with the link provided to the event organizers.

Teams will be judged on the innovation, impact, and feasibility of their solutions. The final pitch will include a demonstration of your prototype and a chance to answer questions from the jury.

Yes, you should bring your laptop and any necessary tools/software to work on the project. Additionally you should bring your sleeping bag if you have.

Yes, we will provide a variety of food options, including gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegan meals to accommodate different dietary preferences. Please feel free to reach out if you have any specific food needs!

Yes, both business and technical hackers are welcome. The DEHN Challenge is more technically focused on data, AI, and engineering, while the Neumarkt Challenge suits both technical and business skills, combining urban innovation with user-centered design and strategy.

If you don't already have a team, we will facilitate a team matching process on the first day of the hackathon. We recommend partnering with someone who has complementary skills (e.g., pairing a technical founder with a business founder) to maximize your team's chances of success.

Teams should consist of 2 to 5 participants.
